Cabo San Lucas Family Resorts – Discounts

Here are some good family deals from Solmar Hotels & Resorts, a hotel collection located at the tip of the Baja Peninsula that offers fun in the sun for the entire family. Each of the five Solmar properties feature spacious accommodations, family-friendly activities and great savings to suit the needs of any budget.

Playa Grande Resort is located on Solmar Beach on Cabos Pacific side, just a short walk from downtown Cabo San Lucas. Playa Grande Resort and Spa recently revamped its Kid’s Camp program, featuring fun-filled activities such as arts & crafts, sand castle making, pool and beach games, treasure hunts and much more. The cost of the new program is $15 per hour, $49 per day or $185 per week; special promotions are available when enrolling more than one child and the cost of lunch is included in daily and weekly enrollments. For an additional $45, Playa Grande Resort offers Kids Disco Night every Tuesday and Friday from 6:30pm to 9:30pm where children can enjoy dancing and pizza while parents can take advantage of one of nine fine dining restaurants within the Solmar collection.

A variety of family-friendly packages are always available at Playa Grande Resort & Spa, including a $200 Resort Credit to be used toward services at the property’s premier Thalassotherapy Spa, the on-site mini golf course, and on-site dining venues.

Book an Adventure Travel Tour: “Historic Parks of the American Southwest”

Here’s something new and exciting to do this summer:



Discovery Adventures, the adventure travel brand developed in partnership with Discovery Channel and Gap Adventures, was honored as a tour of a lifetime by National Geographic Traveler magazine in their annual “50 Tours of a Lifetime” issue.

Discovery Adventures was chosen for one of their 31 trip itineraries, “Historic Parks of the American Southwest.”

Each year National Geographic Traveler magazine’s editors comb the world to find the 50 most authentic, innovative, best-guided and most sustainable trips for their “Tours of a Lifetime” list.

“Historic Parks of the American Southwest” excursion offers a personalized look at five National Parks led by expert guides. During this 12-day adventure, participants will discover the rich history and Native American culture first-hand from a local Navajo guide. Included are entrance fees to all National Parks with hiking and walking excursions, a ranger guided tour of the Mesa Verde ruins, a Navajo guide and tour by 4×4 vehicle in Monument Valley as well as a ranger guided hike of the Navajo National Monument including Keet Seel and Betatakin cliff dwellings. Tours are limited to 12 people.

Things we Love: Family Adventure Travel ala the Discovery Channel

If your family gets hooked into those Discovery Channel shows like we do, you’ll love this!

The Discovery Channel has just launched a brand new adventure travel company: Discovery Adventures.

Tour themes tie in with places featured on Discovery Channel programs such as Man vs. Wild, Out of Egypt, Discovery Atlas, Dirty Jobs and Into the Unknown With Josh Bernstein.

As a participant, you’ll have the opportunity to explore ruins and historic sites, as well as to do volunteer work in the destinations and experience local cultures. And Discovery Adventures says all trips are suitable for families.

These adventures will be going to destinations including Mexico, Costa Rica, Peru, the Amazon, the Galapagos, India, Thailand, Cambodia, China, South Africa, Morocco, Egypt, Alaska and the U.S. Southwest.

Itineraries range from cruises and safaris to exploring the ancient civilizations of the Incas, the Egyptians and Angkor Wat in Cambodia.

Departures began in December. The trips run from three to 24 days and are being offered in partnership with the tour company Gap Adventures. Prices start at $800 per person, including lodging, breakfast and some other amenities. Airfare is extra. Groups will be small, just six to 15 people depending on the destination.
