Things We Love – Once Upon a Room Bedroom Collection

Once Upon A Room Bed Collection

Once Upon A Room Bedroom Collection

We love this children’s furniture collection from Poshtots. Whimsical and yet beautiful. This collection is made by hand of ceramic mosaics and wood and is hand painted. Shown here with a Pink Gingham theme and is also available in Green Gingham, this collection will surely make heads turn. No two items are alike so this makes this collection truly one of a kind. Items shown here are the twin bed (47″W x 82″L x 72″H headboard), with optional Monogrammed Linen Chest (17″W x 29″D x 18″H) where you can display your childs name, a French Bedside Night Table,Two Drawer (26″W x 16″D x 28.5″H). Also available is a matching Queen Anne Lamp with rosebud shade (28.5″W x 6.5″D x 28.5″H) that comes with a rose ceramic finial on top.

The Once Upon A Room Bed Collection is a pretty penny, but you can order ala carte, too.

Plum Organics and the Squirt Spoon – Today’s Product Pick

“The.Best.Invention.for.Babies.Ever.”

That’s how my friend introduced me to her daughter’s cute squirty little spoon and lip-smackin’ baby food.

I’m sitting at my son’s soccer practice yesterday afternoon, and my friend sits down on the grass beside me with her 8-month old to show me something that really is very smart.

Now, granted, there have been a lot of amazing inventions in the baby care industry, but we think this is pretty innovative, and it’s all about making a mama’s life easier. Especially those of us who are always on the go.

Have you seen these?

These are little BPA-Free Squirt Spoons, which attach directly to the top of a pouch of Plum Organics baby food. Once you have screwed on your little spoon, all you need to do is squeeze the pouch and feed your baby. It’s no mess and goes anywhere for easy, one-handed feeding.

The pouch is resealable and all the packaging is BPA free. The pouches feature organic baby foods in a variety of fruits and vegetable combinations. (That’s Second Blends Baby Food – Pear and Mango pictured below.)

Plum Organics uses only organic fruits and vegetables, which are cooked slowly to retain a rich mix of flavors, colors and textures. And the innovative pouch retains the freshness, flavor and nutrients of the purees. Each of these Plum Organics baby food products are certified organic, nutrient rich, free of high fructose corn syrup, trans fats, and artificial ingredients and use BPA-free packaging.

Very cool.

So cool, in fact, that this mama said her 2nd grade son loves ‘em, too, so he occasionally gets them in his lunchbox, as well.

We found Plum Organics Spoons and pouches at three of our favorite online retailers, and we publish coupon codes for these sites, when available.

Uncommonly Cute and Witty Onesies

Peace, Love & Cookies Bodysuit

I was just browsing at ModernNursery.com and PokkaDots.com, and found these adorable little baby bodysuits – aka onesies.

The one above, for your little cookie monster, is 100% cotton and very mom friendly. From Uncommonly Cute.

Here’s another one, which features a quote I’m known to spout on occasion:

Fleurville Sling Tote

Fleurville Sling Tote Diaper Bag - Cocoa Stripe

Fleurville Sling Tote Diaper Bag in Cocoa Stripe

This diaper bag is so darling, it almost makes me want to have another baby. Okay, not really, but it’s nice. Really nice. Maybe I could put my puppy in there and tote her around. That would be cute. Or maybe I could use it as a beach bag.

No matter what you plan to put in there, this diaper bag from Fleurville is particularly nice because you can wear it three ways: as a messenger bag, over your shoulder (as a tote), or attached to your stroller. It’s smaller than the Fleurville MotherShip diaper bag by about 20%, but still big enough to carry just about everything you need – and then some.

If you want to wear it as a messenger bag, it has a padded, adjustable mono-sling. It also has comfortable wide handles for use as a tote. There are a total of 10 pockets, 2 of which are lined with fleece, so they’re perfect for storing your iPod, cell phone and sunglasses. This bag also has an insulated beverage holder, key-clip/carabiner, a Fleurville translucent wipe case and changing cloth.

This bag comes in a variety of colorful prints and color combinations. My personal favorite is the one shown above (Cocoa Stripe) but it also comes in “Botanical Azure” (so poetic) as well as “Black Bouquet,” “Fiesta Flower” and more.

We looked around at a variety of websites and found the best price and best selection for color combinations at Babyearth.com. Plus, at the time of this writing, they’ll ship orders free when you spend $99 and up. (No coupon code required. See site for details.)

Ten Ways to Save Big on Baby Gear

I’ve just published a new article from Sandra Gordon, author of Consumer Reports Best Baby Products: Ten Ways to Save Big on Baby Gear
Start reading below:

Baby products are an 8.9 billion dollar industry in this country. There’s a lot to choose from—and a lot of stuff you can live without. A typical middle-income family with one child in the U.S. will spend an average of $13,590 on baby’s first year alone. But you get better value, and still buy high-quality, safe products without spending a bundle.

The trick is to do your homework and research products before you shop online or step foot in the baby products super store. Also:

1. Get more mileage out of your baby registry. Friends and relatives want to give you gifts, so take advantage. But before you add a product to your registry, make sure it’s right for you and your lifestyle. Test-drive products in the store and take your baby registry as seriously as if you were paying the tab yourself. Register for big-ticket items like a stroller, car seat and crib. Who knows? Friends and relatives may go in as a group and buy them for you. And register for everyday items like diapers in all sizes except for newborn, and baby wipes. You’ll need those items for years to come. Babies will outgrow newborn diapers in a flash, so it doesn’t pay to register for that size. And don’t register for clothes. You’ll get those anyway as baby gifts.

2. Take advantage of freebies and coupons. One of the best ways to save is to shop with coupons when products go on sale, then stock up. That’s a good way to save money on baby food, diapers and baby wipes, for example. On another note, hold onto those 20 percent Bed Bath and Beyond (BBB) coupons. BBB recently bought BuyBuy Baby so you can now use BBB coupons at Buybaby Baby, too. On a $250 stroller, you’ll save $50.

3. Compare prices online. Once you know what you want, you can go online and try to find the best price. But watch shipping charges. For heavier items, it might make sense to go to the store instead.
