Product Review: Tranquil Sleep Now
A Natural Cure for Insomnia
Like many people, I sometimes have a hard time getting a good night's
sleep. I fall asleep fine at night once the kids are tucked into bed,
but then I wake up in three or four hours and can't get back to sleep.
I've tried all kinds of herbal supplements, as well as guided meditation
mp3s and CDs, and never got the results I needed.
The last time I visited my doctor, I asked her for help, and she
prescribed Ambien, which works really fast and really well for me. In
fact, it works a little too fast and a little too well. I don't even
like to take a Tylenol, so the idea of becoming dependent on sleeping
pills scares me a little.
Turns out, taking prescription sleeping medication is fairly common. In
April 2008, the Consumer Reports National Research conducted a survey of
1,466 American adults (published in the September issue of Consumer
Reports.) According to the survey, 44 percent of respondents reported
trouble falling asleep, staying asleep and waking up much too early at
least 8 nights a month. Almost 1 in 5 took prescription or OTC medicines
at least once a week, 14 percent took them almost 1 out of every 3
nights, and 5 percent took sleeping pills every night. Of these
respondents, 63 percent experienced side effects and 24 percent reported
that they had become dependent on medication.
I have used
other Think Right Now products in the past, and I have had good
results from each of them, so I was so happy to see that they just
released a CD for sleeplessness. I ordered the CD immediately upon
learning that it was available.
Tranquil Sleep
Now opens with a relaxing meditation, helping you to relax and focus
on your breathing, and then it follows the format of the other TRN
audios, in which a calm voice repeats soothing affirmations (each one is
repeated three times) over soothing background music of 55 to 60 beats
per minute, which is designed to further reduce stress and to lower
brain waves into the alpha and theta levels. It's not a hypnosis tape
and it's not a "sounds of nature" tape. It's the same audio format that
works with the other Think Right Now audios.
Does it Work?
Despite myself, I found my eyelids getting heavy after about 30 minutes
of listening the first night. The CDs do indeed work each time I wake up
in the middle of the night – though not as quickly as they do for some
(according to the testimonials on the
Tranquil Sleep
Now website). Usually, I have to listen for 35 to 45 minutes before
I drift off, and the
Think Right Now website says it should take 15 minutes or less. That
means it doesn't work as fast as my prescription sleeping pills either –
but I wake up feeling alert and refreshed the next day. I really feel
like I've found the natural cure for my insomnia.
I understand firsthand the frustration that can come with purchasing
something that doesn't work for you, especially when it comes to sleep.
You'll know in a single night if this will work for you. If it doesn't,
just send it back and you'll get your money back. This company is well
known for its good customer service and it has a 6 month money-back
guarantee.
