Making a Difference this Holiday Season
Helping others in your community is a great way to make the holiday
season brighter for those less fortunate, and a great way to teach your
kids about the importance of serving others, too! Contact a local
charity, hospital or homeless shelter to check on upcoming events or on
ideas for your family to share this holiday season. The following
organizations are other suggestions on getting involved:
Habitat for Humanity
Honor a loved one while helping people in need obtain decent, affordable
housing -- give a Habitat for Humanity "Gift from the Heart." Send gift
cards when you donate online! See also the site's list of other giving
opportunities.

The Holiday Project
A national non-profit organization managed by volunteers who visit with
people spending Christmas, Chanukah and other holidays throughout the
year confined in hospitals, nursing homes, shelters, prisons and other
institutions.

Project Twinkle
Now gearing up for the Christmas 2000 care gift distribution to supply
activity gifts to children of needy families during the holidays this
year. Last year, Project Twinkle surpassed its child outreach goal with
the help of enthusiastic volunteers. Project Twinkle is right on target
for Goals 2000! To distribute care gifts to 1,120 children this year;
children who are ill, in crisis situations and needing a little twinkle
for Christmas.

Make a Wish Foundation
Every donation, every contribution makes a difference in the lives of
wish children, whether it's money, frequent-flyer miles, or in-kind
gifts. Make wishes come true this season through one of the many 2000
holiday programs.
